History, Analytical Grammar, and School in General :(

October 29, 2010 at 7:55 am (Uncategorized)

Okay so today I did not have as much homework as I usually do because my parents were gone for most of the day so my grandfather took care of us, and of course when your parents are taking care of you usually fun things are involved. Anyways back to the point. For history I’m reading this really long book called Johnny Tremain. I do have to say it is not the most interesting book in the world but it is filled with as much info as a historical fiction book can get. It is about this boy who lives in the time of the Revolutionary War and participates in the Boston Tea Party. It is also really long so I lose interest kinda quickly.

Analytical Grammar is my least favorite subject right now. My mom decided she should buy one of the hardest curriculum for language arts there is. My brain does not agree with her at ALL! Unfortunately this program is supposed to last for three whole years. Three freaken years of this and I think I will probably die….Or maybe I’ll just burn the book after I’m done.

For vocabulary, i have to do Vocabulary from Classical Roots. This subject is actually not that bad. it is really quick and I participated in last years spelling bee so that really helps as well.

And then math. My other awful subject. We use Saxon. I despise it…. That’s all I’m going to say about this subject.

More homework awaiting

Girl Scouts

October 28, 2010 at 5:46 am (Girl Scouts) (, , , , , , , , )

I am now so excited for girl scouts because we are planning a trip to New York City in December. Other than the really long trip, it sounds like a bunch of fun! We are planning to do things like Times Square and Central Park Zoo. It is only going to be for a couple of days but it is also around Christmas time so it will all be decorated for the holidays. I have never been away from home for that long!

Well my interview for the trip to Italy and Greece is coming up. It is on November 3rd and I am soooo nervous. I’m so afraid I’m gonna make such a dummy out of myself. Hopefully not…..

Halloween is just around the corner, and I mean free candy, who would hate the holiday….. It’s sad though, there are not really that many kids in my neighborhood so we have to go trick-or-treating somewhere else. There used to be so many kids in my neighborhood. 😦

Well more homework…

Thinking…

October 25, 2010 at 3:49 am (Uncategorized)

Okay so during my church teen group an interesting question was asked to us. What do we plan to do with our lives after we are done with High School? (our teen group only has high schoolers in it). This question made me actually think. I hadn’t really thought what I want to do in life. I knew I wanted to go to college but I didn’t know what I would be.

I’m interested in many things, all of which I have a great time doing and learning about. The things that I’m wanting to be are a teacher, something to do with animals, chef, or engineer. Of course I can’t mix those things into one somehow because they are all so different. I don’t even know what college I want to start my life at.

A lot of teens did know what they were going to do with their lives, but most of them were juniors. I’m only a freshman. Luckily, I have a lot of time to think about my options.  It just annoys me that I was one of the few people who didn’t know what college they even wanted to go to. Again, I was lucky because all of the homeschooled teens also didn’t know along with me. That made me a feel a lot better.

Well more homework and thinking time….

I am so Excited!!!

October 20, 2010 at 9:17 am (Life and its wonders.....) (, , , , , , , , )

Okay so I just found something so awesome on the girlscout website. There is a trip that is going to Italy and Greece in 2013. I know it is super early to be excited but I do have to turn in the application form for it pretty soon. It is going to be at the max. a two week trip. I can’t imagine two weeks alone in Greece but I am soo excited anyways. It is also really expenive but luckily I have enough time to save up.

Anyways school was super hard today so far and I’m not even done. It kinda makes me a little bit sad :(. Anyways I’m just learning a bunch of hard concepts in math. Unfortunately that is what happens when you are in high school.

I am also super excited about Halloween! I love getting free candy, I mean who wouldn’t…. I still have not gotten my costume yet because I have been really busy. I’m gonna be a dead prom queen hahaha.

Well I guess another new thing is that my dog got a new haircut. She is a yorkshire terrier.

my dog ❤ ❤

look down!!!!!!

Well she doesn’t like looking at the camera unless we have food waiting for her….

Well more homework awaiting… Yay…..

Back Home

October 6, 2010 at 9:23 am (Life and its wonders.....) (, , , )

I know I have not written for a very long time. If you have read my mom’s blog, you probably know why. We have been really busy for a long time. Well now we moved back to Virginia and I love it here! I love cold weather much more than I like hot weather. And since it is becoming winter, leaves are falling and people are putting out decorations for Halloween. This didn’t happen in Hawai’i. At least the leaves falling part. We were basically in summer all year around.

One thing that is not changed is I am still homeschooled. I (now like my cousin) have to blog everyday for my schoolwork. Well at least this gives me some time to actually get on here.

I am sooooooo excited for Halloween. I’m not completely sure what I want to be yet…. There are so many choices, it is hard to decide. I need ideas though…

Well I have more schoolwork to do….. I’ll post tomorrow!

Fun Fun

November 29, 2009 at 1:14 pm (Life and its wonders.....)

Okay since I started going to public school, things have been different. I have learned what not to say and how to look, the whole 9 yards. The thing that has really hit me is how racist some people are. I never really knew. This is what you learn when you go to public school.

Anyway on a happier note, I was elected student of the month for my school. It was only because I was new and I had gotten straight A’s no problem. Unfortunately you get made fun of for that too. Why does everything go to this?

Well I am very excited for Christmas. Last year I made a poem for Christmas, that you can look at in the older posts section, I am not sure what I am going to do for this year. There are many possibilities and I do not which to pick. Send me a word of advice please!

26 days until Christmas

Halloween

November 26, 2009 at 12:12 pm (1)

So I was a modern vampire for Halloween!

Okay so Halloween is my favorite holiday! I mean free candy, who wouldn’t love it?!?!?!?!?! So the picture above is the day of my Halloween party. I was a modern vampire. I was a vampire from Cirque Du Freak. It is a book series along with a movie that just recently came out.

Ronin was Aragorn from Lord of the Rings

Ronin had a really fun time. He was really mad when people thought he was a wizard but other than that he had a great time.

We all went as a group Trick or Treating

From left to right; Aragorn, a knight, me, a ninja, and Harry Potter.

So anyway that was basically our night.

So much fun!

June 9, 2009 at 11:13 pm (Awesome Sailing, Life and its wonders.....)

So yesterday I got to have my very first sailing lesson! It was so much fun. I never knew there were so many different parts on a sailboat such as:

jeez 30 parts and this is a basic sailboat

jeez 30 parts and this is a basic sailboat

The sailboat diagram above shows the parts of a sailboat labeled with a number. These numbered parts are each described below.

1. Forestay: The rigging that runs from the bow of the boat to the mast that the jib is attached to.

2. Jib Halyard: The line that is used to raise the jib. It is attached to the jib’s head, runs up to the mast, through a pulley and down the mast to a cleat at the bottom of the mast.

3. Jib’s Head: The top corner of the jib. This is the corner of the sail that is attached to the jib halyard.

4. Jib’s Leech: The after edge of the jib.

5. Jib’s Luff: The forward edge of the jib that is attached to the forestay.

6. Jib: The smaller sail toward the bow of the boat.

7. Jib’s Clew: The lower after corner that attaches to the jib sheets.

8. Jib’s Foot: The bottom edge of the jib.

9. Deck: The top flat surface of the boat.

10. Bow: The front of the boat.

11. Keel: A vertical fin that is weighted and that acts as a counterweight that offsets the force of the wind that is pushing the boat sideways.

12. Jib Sheet: The lines that are attached to the jib’s clew that are used to trim the sail.

13. Hull: The body of the boat.

14. Main Sheet: The lines that are attached to the mainsail’s clew that are used to trim the sail.

15. Stern: The back of the boat.

16. Rudder: The vertical steering foil attached to the stern of the boat.

17. Tiller: The wooden arm that is used to control the direction the rudder is turned.

18. Boom: The horizontal bar (or spar) that is attached to the foot of the mainsail.

19. Eyelet: The circular hole that is at each corner of the sails that is used to attach lines to the sail or to attach the sail to the mast or boom.

20. Main Clew: The lower after corner that attaches to the mainsail sheets.

21. Main Foot: The bottom edge of the mainsail.

22. Main Tack: The lower forward corner of the mainsail.

23. Shroud: The rigging that runs from the top portion of the mast to the side of the boat. This prevents the mast from leaning too far to the side.

24. Main Leech: The after edge of the mainsail.

25. Main Luff: The forward edge of the mainsail that is attached to the mast.

26. Mainsail: The sail that is hoisted up the mast and attached to the boom.

27. Batten: A plastic or wooden slat that is attached to the sail that prevents the sail from losing its shape.

28. Main Head: The top corner of the mainsail. This is the corner of the sail that is attached to the main halyard.

29. Main Halyard: The line that is used to raise the mainsail. It is attached to the mainsail’s head, runs up to the mast, through a pulley and down the mast to a cleat at the bottom of the mast.

30. Mast: The long vertical spar that runs up the center of the boat and to which the sails are attached.

This sailboat diagram is of a typical sloop. This is a great boat to start with when learning to sail.

Sorry cheesy I know but this is the label it came up with that was the easiest to learn. Anyway so tomorrow we are actually going to go out into the ocean a bit of the way and we are also working on capsize recover.

Peace out people!

A puzzle that’s fun and hard

June 8, 2009 at 7:26 pm (puzzles)

Alright so here’s a puzzle that I need you guys to figure out! Just leave a comment as your answer okay? Let’s begin….

The king was murdered in the round castle Friday night. Figure out who did it. The queen couldn’t have because she was having tea with a friend. The princess couldn’t because she was having a sleepover. The prince couldn’t because he was sword fighting with a friend. The maid couldn’t because she was cleaning the corners of the castle. The chef couldn’t because he was preparing a feast, and the king didn’t kill himself. Who killed the king? I will collect the  answers on Friday. Enjoy!
